Choosing to Lose...Life Inside was created to address the growing problem of delinquency with today's youth. The program is geared towards children from sixth to tenth grades, and offers an honest look at what life in prison is really like. Unlike "scared straight" programs, our approach uses the child's common sense, rather than their fears, to accomplish this goal. It is important when addressing problems such as gangs that the child understands the violence these groups inflict on not only one another, but their families and communities as well.

Our officers instruct the children through dialogue, based on the rich background of experience they have garnered throughout their years of service with the department. They provide the students with an understanding of where bad choices lead, and how to change their attitudes to avoid destroying their future. We utilize video presentation, as well as Correction and Local Officers to answer questions the students may have, and to give informed perspectives regarding incarceration and its effect on all aspects of life.
